Abstract
Meconium peritonitis is a rare condition of the fetus and newborn in which a sterile chemical peritonitis is caused by meconium contamination resulting from bowel perforation of fetus during the late intrauterine or early neonatal periods.
Antenatal diagnosis and earlier surgical intervention may provide better outcome to the newborn, though the prognosis is still poor.
We have experienced a case of meconium peritonitis diagnosed at the midtrimester of pregnancy and presented this case with a brief review of the literatures.
